The activity aimed at reviewing the legal framework and policies of nature protection and sustainable development for the Babia Góra Biosphere Reserve and elaborate recommendations how to improve the conditions for sustainable tourism development within this framework.
The first study developed in the frame of the activity examines the framework under the different designations of Polish law as national park and international law - UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and EU Natura 2000 site.
Furthermore, the activity investigated possibilities for the integration of local, national and international policies and strategies and fostered the cooperation and exchange of the experts involved in the project with different national bodies such as the CBD Focal Point and the Caprathian Convention Focal Point of the Polish Ministry of Environment.
The CBD Guidelines on Biodiversity and Tourism Development as well as the Criteria for Sustainable Tourism that had been developed for the project were translated into Polish and published. A comparison of the local spatial management plan of Lipnica Wielka and Zawoja Communities with the management plan of Babia Góra National Park and a compilation of law suggestions about the regulation process of the private properties inside the National Park has been elaborated.
