BG 13: Reconstruction of a mountain shelter and improvement of tourism infrastructure

The main goal of the activity was to replace the 100 years old tourist shelter "Markowe Szczawiny" which is located on the northern slopes of Babia Góra mountain. The shelter is the only facility for overnight stays in the National Park and is managed by the Polish NGO PTTK.

Besides rebuilding the old shelter and modernising it to meet modern quality and environmental standards, the new shelter also will provide adequate information and education for visitors. This includes the installation of a picnic and rest area that substituted the shelter during construction works in 2007/2008.
