BG 12: Annual contest for the best tourism facility

The activity aimed at improving the quality of agro-tourism facilities and services offered in the region of Babia Góra Biosphere Reserve at local farms.

The competition of the best agro-tourism facility was designed to provide an incentive for local tourism providers to evaluate the quality of their services and to take measures to improve the quality and environmental performance of their businesses. Through promoting the tourism providers awarded in the contest the activity also contributed to the economic sustainability of tourism products of the region.

The criteria of the contest included aspects such as service quality, ecological impacts, organic food, additional investments made to improve the service quality (e.g. bike renting, modernisation), attractions in the surroundings, and information provided. The winners were awarded during the celebration of a local village feast and the results were published in the bulletin and the website of the community. The winners of the second edition of the contest in 2007 were published in a brochure.
